an orthopedic pillow (norm $30 or less) from your chiropractor is the best to sleep on. They have "Dual core" pillows that have two densities. It’s very helpful, all you have to do is switch your pillow around to make it softer or firmer. And if it’s from a chiropractor, it’s a researched and effective product that you will be able to trust in.
i don’t know, but can’t wait to see how people respond… i hurt my neck sleeping the wrong way over a week ago… it works itself out during the day, but every morning its stiff as can be again…. " i’m still talking about my neck"… lol
If you have neck pain I would suggest seeing a chiropractor. I didn’t really have the money when I started going but decided to go and put it on a credit card. I am so glad I did. It has helped me so much. I didn’t really realize how bad I felt til I started feeling so good!
They also have pillows, they have a dip in the middle so your neck is supported. They are about $30.
I am a physical therapist, and I ususally suggest that you use a pillow that keeps your head in a neutral position, meaning you don’t have your head flexed toward your chest or you feel like you head is looking up. You need to keep the natural curve of your neck. I tell people to roll a small roll that is about 2" in diameter and as long as your pillow (like roll a bath towel long ways), and then put it inside your pillowcase at the end of the pillow where it will hit right under your neck. That way, if you lay on your back your neck and it’s natural curve is supported, and if you are on your side your neck is also supported. The best thing about that towel approach is that you can just take it out of your pillow if it is not comfortable. Never sleep on your stomach, it really is bad for the neck because it rotates your head to extremes for prolonged periods of time.
Good luck.
