my boyfriend has upper neck and back pain, could it be his pillow or the bed? and what can he do to sleep?
he works with computers so he’s always lifting them. He recently bought a new pillow but that didnt work. and the bed that he sleeps in is old. He got a massage and that worked for a couple of days i think and then it started hurting again.

It’s only his bed and pillow if they are really old or crappy or something.
Also this "I slept wrong" that people say is not true – it comes from overdoing it somehow two days before, then the tension and inflammation builds up while you are asleep. Doesn’t have anything to do with how you sleep.
Get a good chiropractor from an insurance website (Not the yellow pages!!!) They can help him sleep better almost immediately, and maybe some follow up after that!
He should get it checked out unless he has recentley changed his pillows or anything does he have a manual job or workout he could have pulled something. Back pain is so common but so difficult to diagnose pain killers are the only thing that can really help. Try giving a back and shoulder rub with a anti inflammatory cream or ointment.
Your boyfriend sounds like the disc in his spine has got some problems.
Or maybe he has just a pulled tendon, or muscle..
Tell him to try sleeping on the bed with no pillow or with a very flat pillow so that his neck and spine are at the same angle..
If the pain is still with him after say two weeks ask the GP to send him for a MRI or X ray to check it out.
Then he will know for sure what the problem is
Wishing him pain free very soon All the best Lin
Is it a new pillow and bed? If not then he has done something to his neck. Did he sleep for any length of time with his head at a bad angle? Are his muscles tight and tense? If the pain is in the muscles, then try some kind of heat rub with a pain killer. If the pain is in the bones then I would suggest a chiropractor. I sometimes go to the chiropractor to have my neck adjusted and my back. I was in a small, fender bender car accident a long time ago and sometimes I have to have him re-align the bones. Try the heat and a pain killer first. If that doesn’t help enough then see a chiropractor.
