Travel advice? Ahhh! Help!!!?
Ok, well I have NEVER been on an airplane. I’m 16, and this summer I’m going to Costa Rica with spanish teachers, and then after I get back from that 2 week trip, I’m flying to Florida BY myself to be a nanny for about a month…I’m so nervous!!
Any advice about air travel? And more advice about when I go by myself? I’m way scared…also, what to pack? Can you bring a pillow and blanket with you on the plane?

Bring the following:
Gum or hard candy that you really like.
A really good book or magazine (maybe something on childcare since you’re going to be a nanny)
Ear plugs for flying (my ears hurt so bad even with gum)
a pillow.
Dramamine or air sickness meds (plus they may you sleepy and calm)
Remember that in reality flying is so much safer than driving anywhere.
I took my first airplane ride at 18 and I was totally scared, but once you are in the air you feel like you are in a bus. It kinda shakes like a bus plus your crowded. Now I can even look out the window during landing and I’m scared of everything.
You’ll be a pro by the end of the summer
Enjoy it! I’ve been on so many planes you get use to flying. Hopefully you got a good airliner that has tv and food. The turbulence in normal.
I would bring a small pillow and a light blanket, alot of airlines have stopped giving them out in order to save money. Try and put a change of clothes and whatever you need for 1-2 days in your carry-on, just in case they misplace your bags. Bring an ipod or something to listen to music/watch a movie. Magazines or a book are good too. Chewing gum helps with the altitude changes. And thats about all I can think of right now.
Okay, first of all I’m so jealous of you for your wonderful opportunities!
Yes you can bring a blanket with you, and a small pillow. I flew last July and had a window seat. By the time we reached "cruising altitude" there was frost on the window and I was freezing! The very nice man sitting next to me shared the jacket from his business suit or I would have had frost bite by the time we landed!
The people above me already gave you great advice, the only thing I can think to add is to just relax and enjoy yourself. What a wonderful adventure! Besides, you never know; once you get up there you might just love it and wonder what in the world you were ever afraid of!
