best pillow for continuing neck muscle pain, please help!!!!!?
i’ve been having sleeping issues due to neck pain for so long, can anyone recommend a great pillow for neck? the pillow i have now is either too flat or too high, it’s killing me!
I’ve tried tempurpedic but they have several shapes, which one is good? also, anything that’s not as pricey?

Getting the right size, shape and density of neck pillow is very important and it can be hard to decide. Pillows can be expensive especially tempur pedic ones. My suggestion would be to get a pillow that gives you proper neck support. They call this a contoured neck pillow or an orthopedic neck pillow. I do have some suggestions:
1. Arc4lifes’ cervical traction neck pillow- this has a special v that gives your neck a stretch while sleeping: http://www.arc4life.com/site/615058/page/158456- Lots of great testimonials on this one. Price ranges from 52 dollars- 65 dollars
2. Linear gravity support pillow- comes in 3 sizes- there are two lobes of support to choose from
http://www.neckpainreliefkit.com/lineargravityneckpillow. Price ranges from 46- 57 dollars. This pillows comes highly recommended by health professionals. Very soft pillow.
3. If you are looking for something that is more dense and firm instead of #2- try the tricore family of neck pillows: http://www.neckpainreliefkit.com/fiberneckpillows – price ranges from 41 – 55 dollars. Comes in petite, mid size and regular size. You can choose gentle or firm with this family of pillows.
*** Keep in mind, any pillow you use is going to cause some soreness. It can take a few days for your neck muscles and ligaments to adjust to the new position**
Hope this helps.
This is for solely use in the day that I’m suggesting
Get one of those fairly long and thin pillows that you can put in the microwave to heat up, and put it on the back of your neck during the day.
Heat Treatment sometimes helps
I have and neck problems caus do would sleep on my stomach and the tendends would not allow me to turn me neckline other way, I went to a chiropractor for about a month, my neck started to get better, but after a month I was in pain again.
I tried on of those kawasaka pillow (as shown on tv). I love it( just wish it was a little bigger). I have not gone back to the chiropractor since. I have see the pillow at bed bath beyond, and walgreens for $20.
There are several options to consider but the most important is what is your sleep style? If you sleep on your back then a medium density pillow is the way to go. If you sleep on yyour side then a firm density is the way to go. Finally, if you sleep on your stomach then a soft density is the right choice.
Of course pillows are subjective – so regardless of filling – down, feather, polyester, buckwheat or whatever else try getting a pillow that offers you the right amount of neck support.
The memory foam pillows are rigid and are good for some sleepers – the downside is they can be expensive and can not be hugged or molded to fit a shape you like. They are also not machine washable. In general, I really like PrimaLoft – which is a luxury alternative. It is sold in soft medium or firm filling options and ranges from $20 to $60 with most in the $30 to $40 range.
The goal is to have a pillow which will allow your neck to stay aligned more with your back based on your sleeping position.
