sounds like a pinched nerve to me, take your finger tip and move it around upon your neck where it hurts until you find a really sharp and painful spot that seems to be where the problem is, circle your fingertip into it and press and hold, try to work out the kink like you would squash a wood tick, or rid a kink in a garden hose, once gone you shouldn’t have the problem any more, and its not a thing that seems to go away over time unless you remove it

A couple breasts do the trick.
I work for a chiropractor, we would recommend a cervical pillow. You can buy them at most large discount stores (Walmart, Target, etc.)
Mine recommended memory foam.
