Can bed bugs travel on you or objects?
I stayed the night at my grandparents house for 4 days and while i was there i noticed many bites on me i looked up bed bug bites and it looks the same. Now im home and i was wondering if bed bugs can travel? The same pillow i slept with at my grand parents i slept with at my house when i got home bcuz i did not yet know it was bed bugs.
It seems to be possible, yes. If you find that you have been getting new bites, you may want to get rid of your pillow, and wash all your bedding, including your comforter, etc. in hot water and dry in a hot dryer. HTH.
Yes! And if you get an infestation the only way to get rid of them with with a professional exterminator. Make sure everything that you brought back with you is heated to a temperature of at least 120 degrees for at least 30 minutes–that’s what it takes to kill them. I recommend using a laundromat dryer, since most home dryers won’t get that hot.
If that isn’t possible, bag the stuff up tightly, knot the bag, and throw it away! You DO NOT want an infestation.
Lots of people who find that they have bedbugs wonder where the heck they got them from. There are a couple of common ways you can get an infestation:
1) Living in an apartment. Bed bugs often live or crawl in the spaces in between walls as well, and if your neighbors have them, you could as well. That also can make it harder for you to permanently get rid of them, since you’ve got a potential source until your neighbors take care of their own infestation.
2) Travel. Many hotels have infestations. With international travel, this is even more likely. Bed bugs will often crawl into your luggage and get carried back into your home, and all it takes is one to get an infestation started there, too.
3) Clothing. Sometimes they could get into your house by crawling onto your clothes randomly – but this is actually pretty rare.
