Is a memory foam pillow in a bassinette okay for the baby?
Or should I use the regular mattress pad? Do babies need a kind of hard surface to sleep on? The memory foam is pretty firm.

- Memory Foam Mattress Pads and Sleep Disruption

I will concur with the majority above and say it is very dangerous for your baby to sleep on a memory foam mattress pad. First of all it’s not shaped correctly for the bassinette and the baby could get his/her face wedged between the mattress and the side and suffocate. He/she can also smother in it because it would conform to the nose and mouth if the head were turned into the mattress.
Babies are supposed to sleep on the hard surface. It’s uncomfortable for us but it is safer for them.
There are sleep positioners that have little pillows for baby’s head but those are also starting to get a big thumbs down for safety.
Good luck with your little one.
umm….if i waz your baby i would like the memory foam pillow better than a hard mattress pad!!
Babies do need a hard surface to sleep on because they could suffocate if they sink into the matress at all. Thats why babies cant have pillows in thier beds.
it feels good for you, but it is too soft for the baby. a regular matress would be best.
NO! BAbies need a hard surface to sleep on so they don’t suffocate in a soft mattress.
no pillow pleas the bassinet pad is safer
do not use memeroty foam! in the bassinett, just use the bottom.
any type of… ANYTHING in the bassinet is a safety hazard… suffocation, for example. having nothing but the baby in there reduces the SIDS risk and suffocation.
yes, they need a hard surface.
dont give your child any type of pillow until s/he is at least 3 years old.
No you shouldn’t put that in there. babies need a firm surface to sleep on so they don’t sufficate.
no baby could suffocate
matress pad only until 1yr old. they can suffocate
NO – sorry, that’s me in panic mode.
No memory foam for baby. Firm surface for the first 9 months and after that it’s still better to be safe than sorry.
a hard firm mattress is best.
anything softer and you run the risk of SIDS
Deff want something firm, no pillows, stuff animals nothing for a long time.

No dont put them on memory foam a regular mattress till they are old enough to turn themselves over. too many things could happen with that mattress and i dont want u to risk your babies life…
Don’t let the baby sleep on it tho
well the reason they say no pillows is because they can get it wrapped aroung their face, i would say use the pad that came with it. that’s your safest bet.
Memory foam does have slightly similar density to water or amniotic fluid so you should be fine.
No. Because it forms to the body it may impair the child’s breathing (assuming you place them on their stomach). Babies are not capable of the motor skills to turn over when needed. Call the toll free phone # on the box or mattress pad for more info. When in doubt–don’t do it.
i would use the pad that comes with the bed-most of these are designed for newborns to help prevent sids-i would stay away from pillows for quite some time
Babies need a very firm surface to sleep on. they could suffacate from it sinking under them. try a kolcraft or sealy one there always good for babies.Good Luck
