What type of mattress would be best for an obese person?
I have tried pillow top and spring mattress. I am thinking about either sleep number or tempurpedic.

The common problem with today’s mattresses is they utilize layer upon layer of cheap Polyurethane Foam. When you combine that with someone over 200lb + that is a recipe for disaster. Check out a mattress forum called http://www.whatsthebest-mattress.com/ there you should find a lot of suggestions.
My opinion, do not buy a mattress with PU Foam. Purchase one that uses "ONLY" http://www.stlbeds.com/articles/2008/12/22/100-all-natural-latex-is-it-foam-or-rubber/ all natural latex rubber. They are very very durable and some can be purchased with replaceable layers.
The best way is to go to the store and lie down on the mattress to see if it supports you. Even thin people have discomfort
.
The Simmons Beauty Rest is good for all shapes and sizes…without disturbing partner because of its good support and how it’s made.
I know it difficult find a good mattress for us heavy-weight. I’m not sure about the weight class you are looking for, but for me at 485lbs I have found that a hard high-density foam mattress works best. I tried spring mattress, but it became noisy and the springs started sagging in less than a year. All the best!
I think that you should try out a Tempurpedic Memory Foam Mattress. I have one and its amazing. It’s like sleeping on a cloud and I never wake up feeling sore. I think that you will enjoy it much more than a pillow top or spring mattress. Here’s some more info on it.
